A few months back, the kind folks at Gaston Luga gifted me with a beautiful black Pråper backpack, and I was smitten with its classic and minimalistic design. Since then, I’ve been carrying my beloved “Black Beauty” out and about on all occasions, and recommended this brand to various ones. Last week, they very generously delivered this “Snow White” dream-of-a-bag to my doorstep – isn’t she lovely?
I’ve been carrying my White Pråper all week – yes even on the school runs and to the supermarket for groceries – and I love how it instantly brightens up my regular wardrobe.
Like its all-black counterpart, the bag is made of leather and highly durable canvas, with metal hook closure and metallic feet. The stitching is impeccable! Inside, there’s a padded laptop sleeve (fits a 13″-15″ laptop comfortably), and two pockets, which I usually use for my keys and iPhone. On the back, the unique Gaston Luga pocket holds your passport, flight and train tickets, making them safe yet easily accessible for when you’re travelling. I use that for my EZ-link card most of the time.
While the bag is slimmer than the other popular Gaston Luga model, the Clässic, it certainly packs a fair bit into its stylish interior without looking bulky. However, do note that the top opening of the bag is not as large as most other draw-string backpacks. This makes it harder to access small items that have dropped to the bottom of the bag, such as keys or a pen. At the same time, I believe it is this slightly smaller opening that allows the bag to retain its shape no matter how much or how little you pack into it.
The hubby and boys humoured me by doing a little photoshoot at Gardens by the Bay earlier today, and hubby certainly looks pretty awesome wearing the Black Pråper, don’t you think? Looks like these will become couple bags for us from now on…
You might be wondering if an all-white backpack is all that practical, especially with little kids who are wont to touch you and your belongings with grubby hands… I know, the thought certainly crossed my mind too. But you know what – my bag has successfully survived a week of use, and is as snowy as its original state! Even though I climbed a tree, plonked my bag on the floor/benches/steps, and let Daryl use it as a pillow when he was tired.
So I’m happy to say that the bag doesn’t pick up dust and grime that easily. I also googled for ways to keep my Snow White in her pristine state, and found this and this helpful. Got to pick up some of that stain repellent when I hit the supermarket next week!
